Can 5HTP Help You Sleep And Reduce Your Fatigue ?
5htp side effects , 5htp research and reviews...
Find out about how this supplement can help depression, help you
sleep, and reduce your fatigue. Read about 5htp research (Fibromyalgia)
and 5htp reviews by a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferer who took
this supplement to help her sleep better...
Research suggests that if you suffer from
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia, you probably don't produce
enough serotonin. Serotonin is one of your brain's most
important neurotransmitters that affects your mood and your
sleep.
So how do you increase your serotonin levels?
Well, what about 5HTP? 5HTP supplements can apparently improve
your:
* sleep quality
* fatigue
* anxiety
* pain and stiffness
* and can possibly even help depression.
There seems to have been a few studies that have
shown that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia sufferers
respond well to 5HTP. Dr Jeanne Hubbuch, for example, (a
doctor in Newton Highland, Massachusetts, USA) apparently recommends
5HTP and melatonin to all of
her Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients.
As with taking any supplement or medication, it's always best to
check with your doctor first. Please also be aware of the

5-HTP Research
The verdict still seems to be out as to whether 5-HTP really
does help sleep. But there have been some studies that show
some initial promise...
One double-blind study apparently found that Fibromyalgia
patients who took 5HTP saw a significant improvement in all of their
symptoms - including better sleep quality
and less anxiety, fatigue, pain and stiffness.
The study reported only mild 5HTP side effects
and stated that further research was needed to properly evaluate
the effectiveness of 5HTP for Fibromyalgia. [ref

Another study apparently examined the effect of 5HTP on Fibromyalgia
sufferers. Many of the patients showed a significant improvement
in the number of tender points, anxiety, pain intensity, quality
of sleep, and fatigue they experienced. However, a third
of the patients did experience 5HTP side effects: [ref

"The overall evaluation of the patient condition assessed
by the patient and the investigator indicated a 'good' or 'fair'
clinical improvement in nearly 50% of the patients during the
treatment period. A total of 15 (30%) patients reported side-effects
but only one patient was withdrawn from the treatment for this
reason."

5HTP Reviews By A Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Sufferer
Here's a 5HTP review by an ME/CFS sufferer:
"I’ve just begun taking 5HTP. A couple of people told
me it helped them with sleep, sugar cravings,
and generally feeling better so I thought I’d give it a
try.
I slept better
than usual last night. Maybe it’s working. In fact,
if I could sleep every night like
last night, I’d say the sleeping problem is cured.
Fingers crossed - hard to imagine after 3 years
in which good sleep was a vague memory."
-- Christy, A Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferer
from Falls Church , Virginia , USA, Reviewing 5HTP --
Six weeks later, Christy kindly gave me an update about how she
was getting on with taking 5HTP :
"I've been using 5-htp for about 6 weeks and it is enabling
me to get restful sleep.
This may be the single best thing I've found for
making me feel better than ever!"
