"Another fantastic installment from the marvellous J K Rowling. What a story teller!
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is the 6th of the 7-part series. I felt a little sad to reach the end of this one, knowing that there was only one book left to go... there's nothing like having a nice, new, crisp Harry Potter book by your bedside, begging to be read!
I found Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince to be quite different from the others so far. For one, it was funnier (there's a lot more teenage lust). But also, it had a lot more history.
I would normally yawn at such a thing, but as always, J K Rowling does a fabulous job in bringing to life the historical events leading up to the Voldemort we have come to know.
If you haven't read the previous books it's definitely worth reading them first. But as with any Harry Potter book, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is a great read and much recommended."

"A True Wonder
This latest Harry Potter book is an excellent mix of drama, uncertainty, confusion, encounter, and love.
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is certainly surprising, I can tell you that much!
In contrast to the first 5 books, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is a mountain of a book. I think it's much better than book 4, The Goblet of Fire, but it does not beat book 5, Order of the Phoenix. If you're a Harry Potter fan, this is a definite read. "

"A wonderful book, and I don't use that word lightly.
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is one of the most impressive books I have read, not just in the Harry Potter series, but more generally.
I was a little wary of the length of Order of the Phoenix (Book 5), mainly because I found some of the dialogue a bit repetitive; however this is resolved in J K Rowling's shorter, more emotional and sophisticated 6th Book.
What is brilliant about Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is the use of metaphor and imagery such that it can appeal to the wisdom of children, yet also broach some of the most important issues we all face as people, young and old.
Also, in the friends and teachers that surround Harry (as well as with Harry himself of course) we can identify with truly great and heroic characters, both male and female, wizarding, muggle and monster.
Most of all, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is so delicately nuanced with such wonderfully subtle meanings ... for example when Harry is forced to look at his knees after seeing Dumbledore's eyes water; I will not say why this situation comes about, but its meaning is beautiful, heart warming and for me proves pivotal to the overall worth of Harry Potter.
In closing, this book leaves everything to be resolved - a whole war is to be won, relationships are to pursued, friendships are to be tested - the final installment is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated book releases in modern times, and, quite frankly, deservedly so! Good work JK, you get an O."
