Antidepressants
are
MEDICATION FOR DEPRESSION
.
But
antidepressants are interesting because
they can even help those CFS/FMS sufferers
who aren’t even depressed.
‘What??’
I hear you ask.
Yep.
Research suggests that certain types of
antidepressants (MEDICATION
FOR DEPRESSION) help to alleviate
the fatigue of ME/CFS sufferers,
even if they are not depressed.
In
some ME/CFS patients, signs of improvement
show after a few weeks!
According
to doctors, a low dose of a tricyclic antidepressant
such as amitriptylline (MEDICATION
FOR DEPRESSION) at bedtime helps
promote sleep and improve disturbed sleeping
patterns.
According
to Dr
Charles Shepherd, antidepressants (MEDICATION
FOR DEPRESSION) may also
help to improve your memory and concentration
if you are already depressed (although he
is sceptical of how much they might help
your memory and concentration if you are
not).
Antidepressants
(MEDICATION FOR DEPRESSION)
certainly aren’t a total cure for
CFS/FMS but they certainly can help to improve
the quality of sleep you
get, your energy levels,
and even calm your mood swings.
But!!!
They
don’t work for everyone.
There are some CFS/FMS sufferers who don’t
see any change, or can’t tolerate
them.
That’s
not to say that antidepressants will not
work for you- but it really does depend
on the individual.
