What Is "The Glyconutrients And Fibromyalgia Miracle"?
Glyconutrients are very important for your well-being, and it seems that
they are particularly important if you have Fibromyalgia.
Some people have
even referred to glyconutrients as a "Fibromyalgia miracle "...
Glyconutrients are simple sugars which are known as monosaccarides in medical
terms. And they are apparently vital to your immune system.
An Over-Active Immune System?
Okay, okay, so glyconutrients are vital to our well-being. But did you
know that, according to many sources, glyconutrients can apparently make
a real difference when you have Fibromyalgia?
But why?
Well let’s take a closer look…
Whether you have Fibromyalgia or not, your immune system needs to tell
the difference between the healthy, friendly cells, and the ‘bad’
cells in your body. If your immune system cannot tell if a cell is healthy
or not, it will attack it.
So how does your immune system tell the difference?
Enter glyconutrients. Glyconutrients basically help to create a ‘communication
interface’ on the outside of each of the cells in your body. Each
cell needs this in order to communicate its own information to the next
cell. And that information includes whether it’s a healthy cell or
not. But…
… if your body is deficient in these vital sugars (glyconutrients)
then your immune system could apparently be attacking your healthy
cells as well as your bad cells - because it can’t tell the
difference.
Okay so that’s one reason why glyconutrients are vital to
your body.
But does this lack of glyconutrients apply to you in any other way as a
Fibromyalgia sufferer? Well if you take a look at what each of the glyconutrients
do, you might understand why…
What Role Do Glyconutrients Play In Easing Fibromyalgia Symptoms?
"Glyconutrients are a rapidly rising star in the world of alternative medicine. There are a number of good studies and many anecdotal reports and case histories reporting the effectiveness of glyconutrients in dealing with fibromyalgia."

There are 8 types of gluconutrients (sugars otherwise known as monosaccharides
- commonly misspelled as monosacharides or monosaccarides
):
- N-Acetylglucosamine
- Mannose
- N-acetylneuraminic acid
- Galactose
- Glucose
- Fucose
- Xylose
- N-acetylgalactosamine
Here's why these glyconutrients are of particular interest when you have
Fibromyalgia :
The N-Acetylglucosamine sugar is needed to make Glucosamine.
Glucosamine is important when you have Fibromyalgia because it
eases pain and inflammation and helps to repair your cartilage.
The Mannose sugar apparently reduces inflammation
even in rheumatiod arthritis. And the N-acetylneuraminic acid glyconutrient
is helpful for easing brain fog. What’s more, research
has shown that it helps to prevent many people from catching certain
strains of flu (the influenza viruses).
Both Galactose and Glucose can apparently help
your memory but you do have to be very careful about how
much Glucose you have in your diet. And the Fucose
glyconutrient apparently protects you from respiratory
infections. It also helps to prevent allergic reactions.
"Since one of the most important biological activities of the
necessary glycoconjugate sugars and complex carbohydrates is immune
system modulation, any role that the immune system might play in FM/CFS
would logically be influenced by these particular nutritional elements."

Implications in Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, GlycoScience

Can We Get Enough Glyconutrients From Our Food?
Many natural health practitioners believe that our body can heal itself
naturally…
… if we consume enough of the organic
nutrients we need. That bolsters our immune system, which can then
protect us from disease. If our body is depleted of these nutrients,
that’s when we get diseases. Sounds logical right?
Well unfortunately, the food we eat nowadays has less and less nutritional
content. Many of us have poor diets; we eat over-processed foods…
and far too much sugar.
But even those of us who do eat fresh fruit and vegetables aren’t
getting the nutrients we would have got from fresh food a hundred
years ago.
- The nutrients in our soil are fast becoming sapped. And that has a knock
on effect on the fruit and vegetables that are grown in that soil.
- A lot of the fruit you buy at your local supermarket is usually picked
way before they become ripe. This too, dramatically diminishes the amount
of nutrients in them.
That’s not forgetting the pesticides and other chemicals that your
fruit and vegetables might have been sprayed with.
The bottom line is that in today’s world, we are just not getting
enough of the nutrients we need. And this includes those important
glyconutrients - they are just not readily available to us through
our diet.
Where Can You Learn More?
Is it all just hype? The latest craze? Are glyconutrients really miracle
sugars, or just hype from the manufacturers?
I really don’t know. I’ve provided you with a summary of what
I’ve learned to date. If I learn more, then I’ll be sure to
let you know. In the meantime, have you tried glyconutrients? Share your experiences, good or bad, here...
Until then, there are a couple of well-established and widely acclaimed books on glyconutrients here...
